ChildcareFamilyFertilityPregnancyWhen Should You Start Looking For Childcare?

July 6, 20210

There’s no doubt the pandemic has changed the outlook of childcare. Many early learning centers closed their doors for good. Those that stayed open were faced with cutting staff or hiring shortages. This means less openings and longer waiting lists.

It also means you should start looking for daycare immediately, don’t wait. Pre-pandemic you would have wanted to start your search in the second trimester or at least 5 months before you give birth but now we say the sooner the better. Especially if you plan to go back to work right away.

It’s important to remember, many centers will not accept infants and most high quality centers fill up fast and have long waiting lists. The earlier you start your search, the more time you have to interview and tour daycares, and better chance you have of getting into the daycare of your choosing. Doing so will give you a peace of mind, it will be one less thing you have to worry about as you get ready to welcome your bundle of joy into this world.
