About us:

A Child’s University is a nationally accredited early childhood school with two Rhode Island locations – in Cranston and Smithfield. Our teaching team is proud to offer the highest quality care and education in Rhode Island for children ages six weeks to six years in classrooms with a unique staffing configuration that surpasses state and even national standards. A Child’s University is also the only early childhood school in Rhode Island that offers on-site video cameras that allow parents to see their child at any time during the day through a password protected site.

We invite you to take a journey through our web site so we can show you how A Child’s University provides the richest, most family-centered, and highest quality early childhood education experience available.

Our philosophy:

Early Childhood Education in a Safe Environment

A Child’s University provides young children with the highest quality early childhood education experience imaginable and surpasses state and national benchmarks for excellence.

The curriculum at A Child’s University is rooted in national standards and designed around local education guidelines to ensure the program content meets the cognitive, social, physical, and emotional needs of each child. The school is lead by professionals who have the highest commitment to the success of young children and a passion for serving each child and their family. Above all, the teaching team abundantly provides families, children, and each other with love and kindness in all interactions, communications, and thoughts.

A Child’s University is an award-winning organization with immense gratitude for the families who place their trust in our school, the children who inspire us to give our best each day, the community for their support of our mission, and for our Team Members who nourish the spirit of our school with their innovation, motivation, and determination.

Our Ratios:

The key to offering the very best experience for each child who attends our early learning school is our commitment to providing a teacher to child ratio that surpasses state and national requirements. This means that each child receives more of the one-on-one attention that he or she needs and that our teachers are able to focus on providing the highest quality learning environment each and every day. Our Team Member base also includes a vast substitute teacher list and additional Team Members who can lend support to classrooms throughout the day.

The teacher to child ratio is perhaps one of the most important questions on every parent’s mind. This is because the quality of an early childhood education program is heavily dependent on the staffing model designed for each classroom. At A Child’s University, the teacher to child ratio we follow is one of our core offerings to a child and their family. We have an abundance of Team Members ranging from management members to substitute teachers.

The adjacent page is an in-depth look into how we staff each classroom and how our staffing model exceeds the State of Rhode Island requirements. We also have a vast substitute teacher list so we can call in trained, experienced substitute teachers whenever a regular teacher is absent. This keeps our classrooms operating at optimal levels, prevents present teachers from feeling overburdened, and ensures that children receive the one-on-one interaction that is essential for their growth and development.

    Experience at ACU

Our eldest daughter was at ACU from the time she was an infant til she graduated from their pre school program. We cannot say enough how wonderful the staff and the facility was. I did not hesitate to tell my brother about this place when my nephew needed to be placed in a daycare program. I would highly recommend ACU to any and all parents looking to place their children into a daycare and/or preschool program. This place will not disappoint!!!
